With state budgets undergoing hefty cuts and philanthropic dollars drying up, today's economy presents unique challenges for the non profit sector. And with so many organizations jockeying to get their messages in front of potential funders, what's the best way to gain a leg up?
To address some of these issues (as well as others facing non profit communicators), the PRSA Westchester/Fairfield Chapter has started a peer discussion group especially for public relations, marketing and development professionals working in the non profit field.
The inagural meeting will be held Tuesday, March 30 from 12:15 - 1:45 p.m. at Family Centers on Greenwich. "Brown bag" it and spend your lunchtime brainstorming with other nonprofit PR pros who understand the challeges you are facing. A small $5 fee will be paid to PRSA-WF to help the chapter administer the program.
The peer group consists of non profit PR, marketing and development executives and staffers only, no minutes are taken, and all discussions remain in the room. This forum has been set up to allow nonprofit PR pros to meet with their colleagues in the region and engage in conversations related to the management of the public relations function.
Please feel free to email me any suggested items that you want the group to address. At the meeting, you can initiate discussion of your own issues. We will also discuss what type of speakers should address our corporate peer group.
Non-chapter PR corporate executives considering joining PRSA are welcome to attend two Peer Group meetings.
I look forward to seeing you at Family Centers on March 30. Please email me to register bbrucker@familycenters.org or call 203-869-4848. Confirmations and cancellations accepted until 10 a.m. on March 30.
