     You Can Build Better Business: PRSA-WestFair Peer Meeting

     Attend Public Relations Society of America - Westchester Fairfield Chapter's Peer Group meeting for Solo Practitioners and Small Firm Owners -- and for other Chapter Members -- Friday, November 30, at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich, Winfield’s Restaurant, table 71. Noon to 1:45 discussion.  Pay only for the lunch you order off the menu and contribute $5 to the Chapter.

      Mr. Katz was founding principal at one of Connecticut’s largest full-service advertising and public relations agencies, Cashman + Katz, forming it in 1992, running it for 15 years. Ed supervised his agency’s largest clients, including the CT Lottery, Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino, Nationwide Insurance, Pfizer, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Center for Disease Control (CDC), the New England Patriots, Lake Compounce Amusement Park, CTDept. of Motor Vehicles, CT Dept. of Public Health, The Hartford Courant, TheaterWorks, Ski Sundown and the National Kidney Foundation.      Ed Katz is Managing Principal at Katnip Marketing, LLC, a marketing and media consultancy he founded in 2008 which provides strategic media and public relations for the arts, B2B, B2C, entertainment, education, government, healthcare, media, not-for-profit, political and public affairs.

     He has led focus groups, speaker coaching/media training and public affairs initiatives for his clients and has written, directed and produced dozens of radio and television commercials -- including several with Connecticut Governors Rell and Rowland -- in addition to working with both governors on various media strategies and initiatives.

     In 2007, Ed served as Chairman for the National Kidney Foundation of Connecticut's annual Gift of Life Gala which broke all records for that charitable organization in both attendance and funds raised. Prior to that, he served on the Board of the UJA Federation of Westport, Weston,WiltonandNorwalkfrom 2003-2007.

     Also, Katz has been interviewed on various media, business and advertising issues by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, MSNBC, Adweek, Mediaweek, PR News, The Hartford Courant, The New Haven Register, WFSB-TV 3 (CBS), WVIT-TV 30 (NBC), WTNH-TV 8 (ABC) and several area newspapers. 

     Mr. Katz has written a rock musical play titled “I Want You to Want Me,” with the music of the rock group Cheap Trick, which is in discussions to open inJapanin 2013. He is also on the producing team for “The King’s Speech”-- the play -- which recently concluded a critically acclaimed run inLondon’sWest End, and he is developing a sci-fi rock musical, “Save the Robots.”
