            Attend the Public Relations Society of America - Westchester Fairfield Chapter's Peer Group Meeting for Solo Practitioners and Small Firm Owners, Thursday, April 19, at Co-Communications, 4 Red Oak Lane, Suite 109, White Plains, NY 10604 ( {Red Oak Lane is off the 287 service road going west; 80 Red Oak Lane, the end of the lane, is the Renaissance Westchester Hotel} 

           Our Guest-Advisor is Cara Cea, Director of University Relations at Pace University in Westchester where she oversees media relations for the Westchester campuses of Pace as well as social media and web for her department.

            She came to Pace 13 years ago from Rockland Community College where she taught web design and career planning.            

            She has been working in the fields of public relations, marketing and advertising for 25 years, getting her start right after college in agency work at Ogilvy and Mather and then The Lukaszewski Group in White Plains. In the mid-1990s she became manager of marketing, advertising and public relations for Dial-A-Mattress where she secured placements in national publications and launched the company’s first website.

            While at Dial-A-Mattress, Cea presented at a new media conference on doing business via the Internet in the early days of online commerce. Cea has conducted workshops for the Encore transition program on using social media to build your professional brand and ran a round-table discussion at the College Media Conference in 2012 on crisis communications. 

            Cea has also run her own PR and advertising business, Tower Group Consulting, doing PR, web design, marketing and advertising for small businesses in Westchester and Rockland Counties. She is a foodie and won the “Locally Grown” cook-off featured in The Journal News and on RNN TV in 2007. She enjoys cooking and eating and has written restaurant reviews as a freelancer for The Examiner and as a blogger for The Journal News/

            She earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a Master of Science in Public Relations, both from Iona College. She lives in Rockland County with her husband, two children and two Beagles.

            Peer Group attendees benefit as they network, discuss business-building issues, create alliances, share services, find opportunities, and solve problems.

            Twelve seats are available at this April 19 Peer meeting. Attendees pay $5 to the Chapter at the meeting. You are registered when you receive confirmation by email. Bring your lunch or buy it from the building's cafeteria. Free parking outdoors. 

            Non-Chapter members considering joining PRSA-WestFair are welcome to attend two Peer Group meetings. Of course, everyone is invited to all our luncheons and professional development events.
